Weekend Adventures in LA- Villa Lounge, Six Flags and Melrose
Hey guys,
This weekend has been pretty crazy for me now but I've loved every minute of it. On Thursday night I went to the see the company production at the American Academy of Dramatic Arts of Othello and I have to admit I loved it. I usually love Shakespeare but having studied him for so long time in England I've become a little detached to it now whilst in LA. I often find it difficult to understand the language even though I have studied it for a while and when I don't understand things I automatically switch off and become disengaged, however, this was not the case with Othello. The actors made it so clear through their physicality and body language that I felt engrossed all the way through the two and a half hour show.
Then on Friday I headed to Melrose with my friend from England to go to Leonardo DiCaprio's club Villa Lounge. It took a while to get in as it was busy but finally when we did get passed the ridiculously long line it was an amazing night. The club is pretty small and was full to the brim with party goers, including Viners Rudy Mancuso and JC Caylen. The interior is pretty trendy and cool and set out as a house with couches and cushions surrounding the table instead of the uncomfortable sticky booth seats. The walls were decorated with photographs and book cases with two bars on the lower level and one bar on the top level. The people all seemed pretty cool and everyone was mingling with everyone, which is something I haven't seen happen very often since being on the clubbing scene in LA. When the club finally close at 2am I was able to go across the road for a viewing at the art museum opposite the club, which was pretty cool.
After a long and exhausting night, I had to get up early as I had planned a day out to Six Flags theme park at Magic Mountain. I had never been there before but I was pretty sure it would be just like going to Thorpe Park theme park in England and I used to go there all the time with my best friend.
The one thing I hate more than anything is going to theme parks with people that don't like to go on the biggest rollercoasters, I love the feeling of the adrenaline that you get when you are at the top about to plunge thirty feet from the air. It's a feeling of freedom and adventure and I you almost feel as if you're flying. I went to Disneyland Paris with my sister and mum a couple of years ago and my sister refused to go on any rides apart from the ones which had a line of toddlers waiting to go on I couldn't deal with it, when I go to a theme park I need to go on the biggest ones they have.
After a crazy morning of rushing around, I finally headed to six flags with the guy that I'm dating and his roommate. We didn't actually get there until three in the afternoon as we all took ages to get ready. At least I now don't need to feel bad about the amount of time I took to contour whilst he sat there waiting because his roommate and him took even longer, it's actually a relief really. Anyways after the forty minute drive and stopping for gas we finally arrived at Six Flags. We had to wait in the queue to get tickets which seemed to take forever and by the time we actually got to the first ride it was already four in the afternoon. I didn't mind though as it was a pretty cool place and I ended up buying an annual pass so I can go whenever I want now.
Looking up at the rollercoasters I wasn't sure what I'd let myself in for. I had spent the whole car journey boasting about how I'm no scared of anything and the rollercoasters in England are just as big as here, but when I finally saw them for myself I think I had a mini heart attack. The first one we queued for had a fifty foot drop upside down. At least I had a whole hour in the long queue to actually prepare myself before going on it. Finally when I got on the ride I was absolutely freaking out, I love rollercoasters but this was on a completely different level, but it was too late to get off, so I just told myself to chill the f*** out and it kind of worked. I found my own words very calming which I guess is pretty pathetic if you think about it.
The ride seemed pretty long compared to the rides in the UK that last for about ten seconds. This one was spinning in every direction with huge upside down drops. I have to admit I felt pretty sick by the time I came off the ride, but luckily I had avoided eating just in case. The next ride we went on was the Green Lantern ride. I loved this one, I was now getting used to going upside down and this one involved all that and more. We queued again for about another hour, which at this point was good because we had all just gone to Johnny Rockets to eat and I was a little worried about vomiting. I was more worried about the guys throwing up than me because they had just eaten a huge meal and I had to sit next to them on the ride and I wasn't going to be impressed if I got off covered in it, but luckily everything was fine. The best part of the ride was the fact that now it was now six in the evening and it had started to get dark, which made the thrill of ride even more intense.
After going on a couple more rides it was getting really cold and I think we were all starting to feel exhausted from having constant elevated heart rates, plus I had the worst headache from having little sleep the night before and from the constant banging of my head against the seats on the ride so we decided to leave around eight.
The thing I loved most about Six Flags was the different themes that they had going on in each section of the park and my favourite was comic book theme.
These are the weekends that make me love to live in LA. If you haven't been to Six Flags already I recommend you take a trip there, it's definitely worth it if your a thrill seeker.
I am now finishing off my weekend sitting in Starbucks on Melrose avenue with the sun on face and Iced coffee. I love to come to Melrose to write and practice scripts and today is especially a beautiful day to be blogging in the sun.
I hope you've all had a beautiful weekend too.
