FUNDRAISING TO STUDY AT THE AMERICAN ACADEMY OF DRAMATIC ARTS

Image
Hey my lovelies, Today is a pretty exciting day for me as I have officially enrolled and sent off all my forms for The American Academy of Dramatic Arts. I am now just waiting for my I-20 form so I can finally apply for my visa. The next step for me is to get a start on my fundraiser as I now only have seven months until I leave. I know it sounds like ages away, but there is still so much to sort out and with my third year at Central coming to end, I really have to focus on my dissertation. When I started fundraising I thought it would be as simple as setting up a page and people would donate, however, I was sadly mistaken. It involves so much more than that and can be quite disheartening when you don't get any donations. Back in November I sent out about 200 letters to a variety of organisations in the arts and I only received three replies, which unfortunately were all rejections. It did make me lose confidence in my fundraiser. I soon realised that I had managed to get t...

AUDITION TIPS

Hey guys,  So today I'm going to be discussing how to prepare for an audition or casting, as well as, letting you in on a couple of my own casting disasters.  I've been auditioning now since I was about eight, whether it was for school productions, films, TV shows or drama school, I have been through them all. You may follow all the tips and audition your little heart out, but still not get the part.  This doesn't mean that you weren't good. Rejection is all part of the process and I have learnt this throughout my career. I used to let rejection get in the way of my other projects. I constantly felt that I couldn't act as I didn't get as many auditions...

MOVING TO HOLLYWOOD!

Hey I’m Chantal Lopez-Dias and I live in Essex in the United Kingdom. I'm an aspiring actor and have decided to start this blog to document my journey and share all my experiences with all you lovely people. So a quick back track, I previously studied acting at Sylvia Young Theatre School and Italia Conti Academy and I am now studying a BA Honours in Drama and Applied Theatre at Royal Central School of Speech and Drama. I absolutely love my course and have had some amazing opportunities such as going to India to facilitate drama workshops with children in the slums as well as teachers and students. I also had the opportunity to tour a devised piece of children’s theatre around Cornwall. I had originally chosen to steer my career in a different direction from straight acting as I thought I should have other skills behind me. Although I am having an amazing time, I have come to realise that performing is my biggest passion and I can’t see myself doing anything else. This is why I...
