Joy Movie Review starring Jennifer Lawrence

Image
Hey guys and girls,  First of all I hope everyone had a lovely winter break and happy new year to you all. I'm excited to be writing my new post of 2016.  Here goes for my first post of the new year. Today I have decided to write a review on the new film Joy written and directed by David O Russell.  The film is set in late 1980s to early 1990s and follows the story of a divorced woman named Joy who rises to fame and becomes a self made millionaire  after inventing a mop that would change everything. Joy is a powerful woman and the film takes us through all the failures and struggles of her life before she makes her fortune. The film has a very impressive cast with actress Jennifer Lawrence playing the lead role of Joy, Robert De Niro playing the role of Rudy, Isabella Rossellini as Trudy and Bradley Cooper as Neil Walker.  I went to watch this film in Novato, California for a family night out with my aunt, uncle, cousin and...

DOES DAPPER LAUGHS REALLY MAKE US LAUGH?

Image
Hey there my lovely readers, I'm going to be talking about something a little different today. Unless you've been living under a tree in the middle of nowhere for the last few months, I'm sure you're all aware of this whole stint with so called comedian and Viner 'Dapper Laughs', real name Daniel O'Reilly. Please don't feel offended by anything I write it's just my personal opinion and I do understand and welcome other ideas on the subject.  At first I didn't quite understand the whole excitement and hype about vines and quite frankly, after watching a few clips I was a little annoyed with the fact that some of these Viners are becoming 'stars' from these silly homemade videos. Lots of them now even have their own merchandise and clothing lines out, displaying their famous tag lines or slogans. I think its utterly ridiculous if you ask me, especially as actor's like myself bust our ass's off in drama school to be noticed f...

ACTING LIKE A CHILD

Image
Hey Guys, so today I'm going to be discussing the difficulties with adults playing the roles of a children. As part of university degree at Royal Central School of Speech and Drama (RCCSD) I am on placement this term at an amazing theatre company for young people called Group 64, which is part of Putney Arts Theatre. I am so excited to be able to work on some amazing projects with them and after only being there for a few days I have already fell in love with their company and the work they do. At the moment I will be working with assistant youth director of Group 64 Kate as well as two other students on a piece a children's theatre, which we are hoping to eventually tour around schools and festivals. The main character is a six year old girl that loves to ask lots of questions. So far everyone has come up with some great ideas and I have to admit I think its going to be pretty amazing show when its finished. One of our biggest challenges with children's theatre is bein...

LA ADVENTURES!!!- ROAD TRIP

Image
Hey boys and girls, So I just got back from LA a few days ago and it was amazing. My cousin got married in San Francisco and my sister and I were lucky enough to be her bridesmaids. We thought while we are in California why not take a road trip to LA. We left  for LA two days after the wedding, which took place a gorgeous vineyard an hour away from San Fran. We decided since my sister and her husband has never seen LA that we would take the coastal route through the mountains stopping off at Santa Cruz, Carmel and Santa Barbara on the way. We planned it out so well.. well we thought we had. A day and a bit travelling with a stop off to a Motel in Santa Barbara and be in LA by the afternoon. We had our plan all worked out, so we packed our stuff, waived goodbye to Pleasant Hill where we were staying with our cousins and off we went. I was so excited to stare out the widow in admiration at the sea with the wind blowing in my hair, the music on loud, sun glasses, looking cool. This ...

MOVING TO HOLLYWOOD!

Image
Hey I’m Chantal Lopez-Dias and I live in Essex in the United Kingdom. I'm an aspiring actor and have decided to start this blog to document my journey and share all my experiences with all you lovely people. So a quick back track, I previously studied acting at Sylvia Young Theatre School and Italia Conti Academy and I am now studying a BA Honours in Drama and Applied Theatre at Royal Central School of Speech and Drama. I absolutely love my course and have had some amazing opportunities such as going to India to facilitate drama workshops with children in the slums as well as teachers and students. I also had the opportunity to tour a devised piece of children’s theatre around Cornwall. I had originally chosen to steer my career in a different direction from straight acting as I thought I should have other skills behind me. Although I am having an amazing time, I have come to realise that performing is my biggest passion and I can’t see myself doing anything else. This is why I...
