Being a Brit in LA- Ten Things that still confuse me

Image
I have now been living in Los Angeles for eight months and there is still so much that I find a mystery about the States.  I love living in the States, but I there is a lot that will never quite understand. So, here goes my top ten list of what confuses me most about living here. 1.  The term 'Fuck boy'.  I hear this a lot, especially when I'm out clubbing and I point at a guy to show my friends if I think he's hot or not and usually I get an awkward stare from my friends and then they will say "you don't want to date him, he's a  fuckboy"  hmmm...OK then! Eight months later I am still unsure of what it really means, although my guess is that it's equivalent to what we call a chav. 2.  Driving.  Ok, so for a British girl with dyslexia remembering my left and right is already a nightmare. It took me 3 times to pass my theory and 2 years to actually learn to drive with an instructor that would constantly say to me 'I don

Choosing the best Headshots in LA

Hey guys, I hope everyone had a great weekend and is now looking forward to a brand new week, I know I am. So, recently if you have been reading my blog posts, you would know that I have been writing a lot about my dating adventures here in LA, but I think I am going to try and steer away from that subject for a bit as I'm not sure that some of my dates are too happy to be reading about it. Today I am going to give a review on my recent headshots. Since moving to LA I have notice a significant difference between headshots in the United States and headshots in England. In the UK they usually consider the simpler headshots better because it allows actors to have a greater variety and play different roles. Although colour photographs are becoming increasingly popular in England, the classic black and white dramatic shot is still often the safer option. Headshots in LA are quite the opposite of this. When I arrived here, I showed my current headshots that were taken in the UK t

When Dating Gets Messy...

Hey guys, I hope you are all having a lovely weekend and enjoying the sun (well if your in California if not then I hope you enjoy whatever weather you are having), I can't quite say the same about my own right now.  If you have read any of my previous blogs you would have seen how crazy my life has been recently and how my dating adventures have been a complete rollercoaster. But Lucky for me it just got whole lot messier. This isn't a hate blog by any means but just another one of my crazy adventure out here in LA.  So like I said in my previous blog I was dating this actor who at the time I really thought liked me. We hit it off really well and we both spoke about personal things and I specifically made clear that I was not looking for any hook ups or anything like that. One evening when we went out I found out that he was dating other girls and although we hadn't really discussed weather we were official or not I was still very shocked and upset. We continue

When Dates Get Awkward..

Hey guys,  So, here's to another dating adventure of mine. After everything that had happened previously with my other dating situations I was finally ready to try a casual date again. I wasn't too sure if it was the right thing to do but I felt I should at least go and see and maybe it would take my mind off things. So, on Sunday night I met this guy for a day, he also happened to be an actor (I know what you're thinking, another actor) but he seemed quite sweet so I thought why not. He picked me up at 6.45pm to go for dinner and an improv show and like a gentleman he opened the car door for me, which is something I personally appreciate. We then drove to Korea Town to go to a small Korean restaurant.  The conversation was flowing well at first, but then it seemed to take a weird path when we began talking about our personal lives, ex's and what we wanted out of life. I felt this was all a little intense for a first date but I guess it made a change to most dates I

Dating in LA: The Man Who Kissed Me on The Street..

Hey guys, I hope everyone had a great weekend and you enjoyed reading my last blog about Deadpool.  My life the past two months have been pretty crazy with school and work and especially my dating life has been on a little bit of a whirlwind, which is why I love sharing my stories with you guys. I had a really interesting experience with a guy on Saturday and I'm not entirely sure if it's a weird LA thing or if I just attract this sort of thing. Like I said recently my love life has been a bit of a rollercoaster. I always thought that dating in England was difficult but since being in LA I've realized that it is even more brutal here. I haven't quite decided if its actually LA or if it's the fact that I'm always dating actors, but I'm really finding the dating world here confusing. Anyway, I've been dating an actor recently over the past month, who I really like but I recently found out he was also dating other girls. At first I wasn't too su
