New Reflections Presents...CHARACTER DEVELOPMENT

Image
Hello my Lovely Readers, Today in this blog post I will be exploring the uses of character development through a piece of educational theatre to create a relevant and believable character that the audience will be able to connect with. As I mentioned in my earlier blog post I am currently working with my new theatre company called 'New Reflections' on a piece of educational theatre as part of a unit for Drama School called 'Student Led Project' at RCCSD . The performance that we will be presenting is called 'Like Me? Follow Me..' and has been hugely influenced by Brecht. The performance focuses on body image in teenagers and the impact that social media and celebrities has on them. The story follows the journey of two teenagers Perpetua (Pep) and Hudson (Hud) as they struggle to deal with the harsh ideas surrounding the Perfect body.  As a group we were adamant that we wanted to incorporate many of Brecht's techniques as we believed that they w

MR GREY WILL SEE YOU NOW!

Hey Guys, Today I'm going to be reviewing the latest movie 'Fifty Shades of Grey'. After reading all three books I was quite excited to discover that it would be finally being made into a Movie. I wasn't really sure on what to expect, so as soon as it came out I decided to book a ticket to the first showing, the day before Valentines Day.  For anyone that has not read the books I will give you a quick recap without giving away too much.  The story follows the tormented relationship between college Student Anastasia Steele and profound Businessman Christian Grey. Mr Grey's sexual fantasies are revealed to Miss Steele in a binding contract. But is Anastasia ready to share his provocative secret with him?  The movie is directed by  Sam Taylor-Johnson  and stars Dakota Johnson as Anastasia Steele and Jamie Dornan  as Christian Grey.  In this review will display a combination of positive and negative aspects of the movie from my point of view.  The first

EXPELLED REVIEW- Starring Cameron Dallas & Marcus Johns

Image
Good Day my Lovelies,  So today I'm going to be reviewing the movie Expelled, directed by Alex Goyette. The movie follows the journey of prankster and troublemaker teenager Felix, played by popular Viner Cameron Dallas . When Felix gets expelled from school he decides he needs to hatch a plan to avoid his parents finding out.  Cameron is joined by fellow Viner star Marcus Johns , who plays the role of Ben, Felix's brother.  Looking at the trailer for Expelled on Netflix I wasn't entirely swayed by the quality of the movie or the storyline. Regardless of this I thought I'd give it try considering I had watched nearly everything on Netflix already.  From the first scene I could already determine the type of movie this was going to be. It was very much aimed at the younger audience, especially around the tweenage to teenage years.  First for the negatives- I wasn't too keen on the way the lead character Felix was involving the audience so much. He

WANT TO BE A SURVIVING ACTOR?

Image
Hello my wonderful Readers,  So on Saturday I headed down to the Surviving Actor's Exhibition held at the Radisson blu Hotel in Portman Square, London. This is a little bit embarrassing to admit since I'm an actress, but this is the first time I've been to an Actor's Exhibition. I have to say this is something I definitely regret and I think anyone who considers themselves an actor should definitely attend one. The tips and advice you get can really held you understand how the business works.  A year ago whilst in my second year at Central I realised the strength of my dream to become an actor. After this realisation I have really pushes myself with auditions and promoting myself. It can be very difficult to not let the fear of failure and rejection override the positive attitude you need to have in this industry to succeed. However everything in my life has dramatically changed for me in the last year. I have really changed my mind set and attitude and I am now

New Reflections Presents...: WHAT IS PERFECTION?

Hey Everyone, As part of my university course, this term we are in the middle of a unit called 'Student Led Project'. For this unit we have the option to devise a piece of theatre, create a workshop or write a play. My group, which involves five other members have decided to create a Theatre Company called New Reflections. New Reflections aim to produce a innovative piece of educational theatre for secondary school key stage four students. The performance will be focusing on the effects that social media have on body image. This is a topic that I feel especially interested in as I believe it is something that effects all of us. My career as an actress expects me to be and look a certain way, which keeps me obsessing about my body and the way I look. The moment I log into Facebook or Instagram my newsfeed is overloaded with images of perfectly toned bodies with hashtags like #fitness and #mydreambody. I'm constantly coming across tips on ways to get the perfect bod, but th

TAKEN 3- REVIEW

Image
Hey guys, So this evening I will be reviewing 'Taken 3' directed by  Olivier Megaton . I'm pretty excited about this review today as I've been waiting to do this ever since I saw the advertisement two months ago. I've always been a little sceptical when film companies produce sequels because I always tend to find them a disappointment. They are never as good as the first ones and usually start a whole new story, with a different cast. I expect a  sequel to be a follow on from the first movie, so the audience get to find out 'what happened next'.  This was originally my thought when I went to see Taken 2 and I was pleasantly surprised at how much I enjoyed it. After enjoying both Taken and Taken 2, I couldn't wait to see what was in store for me in the third movie.  It did take me a while to finally getting round to watch this, but once I did, I was left intrigued and wanting more.  The movie follows the same idea as both the previous films, invo
